A Workshop on Documentary Photography by Reiner Riedler
May 24 – May 28, 2013
„As a documentary photographer, you need to have an attitude and an intention – you are critical, you stand up and say something – but you try to be as objective and authentic as possible. Research is an essential part of the whole photographic process. Sometimes we have to dig very deep to reach the core of a problem. This can be tiring but also exciting. The deeper you dig, the greater your chances are for entering a world that noone has touched before. With your personal approach, you can tell a story in your own unique way.“
– Reiner Riedler
Reiner Riedler encourages the participants to stand up and be courageous, to develop a visual language, a photographic identity. The photographers should find a position on an issue that concerns them, regardless of whether it’s personal or of a more global dimension.
Reiner Riedler will lead the group through a daily program of shoots, reviews, mentoring, editing, group critiques, and the opportunity to learn amongst peers. At the beginning of the workshop, every participant will have the opportunity to get personal feedback on their portfolio. Additionally, lectures will be held by other photography professionals such as Regina Maria Anzenberger herself. The participants should learn about practical and technical skills and the expertise required to compete in a changing marketplace.
